Day 1: Tuesday, 04 June 2019
CASE STUDY: High-viscosity mAb solutions: how to prevent needle clogging during filling
  • New viscosity model to capture variation in both temperature and concentration for protein solutions, successfully applied to a range of different types of IgGs and a variety of therapeutic formulations typical of commercialized biologics products
  • Peristaltic pump filling: suck-back impact on fluid behavior at filling needle tip after a given interruption time
  • Both fundamental understanding of underlying phenomena and quantitative specifications to prevent needle clogging
  • Prediction of the conditions for avoiding needle clogging, knowing the product properties and the operational parameters
  • Comparison of different peristaltic pumps used in the industrial facilities
